Plans are being finalised for our exciting new build and we can’t wait! £16 million is to be invested in Levenshulme, which will involve a new building being constructed, a complete refurbishment of the existing building and wonderful landscaping of our grounds.
We are really pleased that we will be retaining our beautiful 1929 building, particularly so as we celebrate our 80th birthday this year. The grand frontage and hall, in many ways the heart of our building, will remain. We will wave goodbye to the Food Technology and History blocks. History will move, appropriately, into the 1929 building, while Food Technology will move into new build specialist classrooms. Specialist build classrooms will also be created for Languages, all Design and Technology subjects, Science and IT in the new building. The Energy Box, our fabulous school and community sports facility, built in 2006 will be further enhanced with the creation of new external facilities: a multi-use games area and new sports pitches.
All classrooms, both the newly built and the refurbished, will be equipped with the highest quality furnishings and fittings and state of the art ICT facilities.
We will also be making our environment greener and safer. A parkland area will be created and traffic flow around the site will be much better managed.
All in all, the future is looking incredibly bright. It is not surprising that we are oversubscribed for 2009-10 as more and more young women choose Levenshulme as their first choice. With so much to look forward to and year on year sustained improvement in exam success who can blame them?
